Who Can Participate?

Fifteen’s 2007 pilot program consists of 15 emerging sophomore leaders from the Bowen Homes, Jonesboro South, and Martin Street Plaza housing communities. These students attend Southside High School, South Atlanta High School, and Frederick Douglass High School. All participants must complete an application process, which includes written responses and an experience statement.

Applications for the 2007-2008 school year are currently available to any students from these schools who wishes to participate in this program.

Why Participate?

Essential2Life gives students a mandate that will reframe their entire lives, cause them to look in the mirror, to rethink who their heroes are and why, and challenge them to think for themselves.

Leadership at its best is about community and connectivity. It’s about leading with the mindset of serving those around you and doing what needs to be done for the greater good.

Fifteen will not only teach leadership theories, but develop skills through participants in social justice initiatives within their own communities, schools, and the world. They will be equipped to positively affect those around them. Leadership is about influence and a great leader is one who channels influence to produce positive change.
